Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR) in Anchorage, AK

We are actively seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse with Operating Room expertise to join our dynamic team through Quick2Hire staffing agency. Shift & Schedule

  • Day Shift: 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours
  • Shift Hours: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nursing experience in an Operating Room setting
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Travel experience required
  • Patient ratio experience of 1:1
  • Charting system knowledge in any platform, required
  • Certifications: ACLS (required), BLS, CNOR (required)
  • Comprehensive scrub skills across multiple surgical specialties including:
    • Vascular Surgery (required) – e.g., Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid angioplasty, Femoral popliteal bypass graft
    • Gynecology (required) – e.g., Abdominal/Vaginal hysterectomy, C-sections, Laparoscopic assisted procedures
    • Oral Surgery (required) – e.g., Adult Dentistry, Mandibular fracture repair, TMJ arthroplasty
    • Neurology (required) – e.g., Craniotomy, Lumbar fusion, VP shunt insertion
    • Trauma (required) – e.g., Amputations, Burns, Gunshot wounds
    • Orthopedic and Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery (required) – e.g., ACL reconstruction, Arthroscopy, Spinal fusion
    • General and Pediatric General Surgery (required) – e.g., Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernia repair
    • Ophthalmology (required) – e.g., Cataract extraction, Eye trauma, Vitrectomy
    • Urology and Pediatric Urology (required) – e.g., Circumcision, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy
    • Emergency management skills – Code response, Fire Safety, Latex Allergy, Malignant Hyperthermia
    • Pediatric specialties including Gynecology, Neurology, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Transplant surgeries (required)
    • Robotics experience including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Mazor robot, and Orthopedic robotic surgery
    • Additional procedural and equipment competence including Cell saver, Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources, Hana Table, Steris
    • Circulating skills across multiple specialties

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proficient perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room setting, ensuring patient safety and adherence to universal protocols including time-outs
  • Maintain sterile field technique while scrubbing for a wide variety of surgical specialties as outlined
  • Administer blood and blood products while monitoring cardiac and conscious sedation status
  • Conduct proper specimen handling and labeling with strict compliance to infection control standards
  • Safely and effectively establish and manage intravenous access including peripheral IV starts
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and responses to anesthesia and surgical interventions accurately using electronic charting systems
  • Collaborate closely with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes
  • Respond efficiently to emergency situations including code responses and implement emergency protocols
  • Apply laser and radiation safety principles during relevant procedures
  • Manage post-operative wound care, urinary bladder catheterization, and other essential patient care duties supporting recovery
  • Participate actively in continuing education and clinical competency development relevant to surgical nursing

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Alaska or eligibility to practice
  • Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential mandatory
  • Minimum of two years’ robust RN experience in an Operating Room environment, with trauma and multi-specialty surgical exposure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary surgical care team
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex surgical procedures and patient care within fast-paced OR environments
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills with acute attention to detail
  • Flexibility and adaptability to travel assignments as required

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate ranging from $66.00 to $78.00, paid weekly.
